I love applesauce and extra sharp cheddar cheese. I put the applesauce in a bowl and slice up the cheese and line up the sticks around the outside of the bowl. I then use the cheese sticks like little spoons  to scoop up the applesauce. I love it especially when the applesauce is really cold.

The reason that I love the cheese in the applesauce is more than just because it is a fantastic combination (which it is). The real reason that I love the this special combination goes back to when I was just a little girl. Being the littlest of three I had to go to bed first. It just didn't seem fare. Well, what my brothers didn't know was that after they went to bed my mom would sneak into my room and bring me into the living room. We would both sit on the floor and have a midnight snack of cheese and applesauce. It is not something that happened every night, but I do remember that it happened. I felt so special to be up past my bed time, all alone with my mom, eating cheese and applesauce. I suppose it is those little memories that make growing up so special. It is moments like these that shape us as individuals. Yes, I will probably always like cheese and applesauce. But what is more, I also know how important it is to make other people feel special. And especially, I know how important it is to let your daughter stay up past her bed time every once in a while.

The last bite, it is always my favorite. Give me a huge bar of chocolate, and you bet I will have a piece. But if you gobble the whole chocolate bar and give me the last piece, I will treasure it. I will love it. I will praise you for life. Charlie knows this. A few evenings ago we were having lunch at a little steak house just down the street. I ordered an ostrich fillet (delicious). Charlie ordered a hamburger, fries and a vanilla milkshake. Oh my. That milkshake was not any run of the mill sloppy wet milkshake. It was a double thick vanilla milkshake. The kind of milkshake you have to eat with a spoon. It was love in a retro tumbler. It was liquid heaven. I had a few sips (bites really) and we enjoyed our meal. Then Charlie looked up at me and said, 'would you like the last bit?'. Would I? Yum, yes please. It is the last bite that I love. The last little bits. D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S.

Unfortunately on my way to lunch I was thinking with my tummy and I left my camera at home. Luckily I did find this image, which approximates the lovely shake that Charlie ordered. I borrowed it from mackenziephoto on flickr.

With you? Sure.

Lianna:

I eat with a purpose. I always save the best bite for last. But I don't share it, and Ethan likes to try and steal it from me :)

I can't wait to go to South Africa and try an ostrich fillet! Sounds like you are having a great time. Hmm...as for me, I tend to give away the last bite but when people insist that I take it, I always feel grateful and happy. Interesting...I never really put this much thought into the last bite.
